36 Days of Type is a project that invites typography enthusiasts to design a letter or number from the Latin alphabet each day for 36 consecutive days.
This is a flora-inspired creative interpretation of the alphabet for the 9th edition of typography challenge. The design draws inspiration from old-school tattoo style, simplifying the forms of flowers and plants while combining their delicate essence with bold, black lines for a striking contrast. Each letter* corresponds to the first letter of the plant or flower it represents.
*this rule doesn’t apply to numbers :)
*in February 2022, russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the letter Z became a symbol of russian aggression. Creating another pretty flower didn't feel appropriate, so the decision was made to reflect the harsh reality of the war in this final letter of the alphabet.
